To start, I hosted my first big girl dinner "party" at our house at the end of September. I had my college gals that live in Birmingham over plus Hannah (DC BFF) and her mother. Hannah was in town doing wedding "stuff" with her mom. She is going to be one gorgeous bride! I was a little panicked about how everything would turn out because let's be honest, I'm slightly impaired in the kitchen. I made my mom's chicken & wild rice soup, and we had a simple strawberry vinaigrette salad, Edgar's rolls, and a congratulatory strawberry cake for the bride-to-be. I had a wonderful evening catching up with friends and talking all things wedding! I miss my girls all living in Birmingham.
Our little family finally recovered from our sinus infections. It took me stealing Grant's antibiotic from him to get better. I still feel like a terrible person for taking his prescription but I was in bad shape and he was tired of hearing me complain so he took one for the team because his doctor at the doc in the box gave him an antibiotic prescription and mine did not. The face above is another one of William's new expressions.
A couple of Saturdays ago Grant and I painted our fireplace and we didn't kill each other, which is a big deal! Literally, we painted for 9 straight hours. I stayed in my PJ's until 7pm that night and Grant finally looked at me and said, "Caroline, you really need to take a shower and do something with yourself." I looked ROUGH. I hate to admit this but I never left the house that weekend from Friday afternoon when I got home from work until Monday morning when I left the house for work. I'll never do that again.
William and I drove to Montgomery last week for a photo shoot in his Christening gown with the same photographer that did his newborn photos. It was a wonderful day! My dad was working in Montgomery so my mom rode up with him and got to spend the day with us. It was SUCH a treat for me. I also visited my new favorite baby store called Name Droppers. Wowzers, that place has so many precious clothes it made my heart race. I only allowed myself to purchase one outfit, but I could've done some serious damage in there.
The best part of our trip to Montgomery was visiting mine and Grant's wonderful friends, Kat and Robert, in the hospital because William's best buddy has arrived, baby Styles! He is absolutely precious and I cannot wait to get these boys together!
This face was way too funny not to include! Some of his expressions are just hilarious!
This past weekend Grant went to Talladega for the NASCAR race with Kyle and one of his buddies. They left Saturday morning, camped out Saturday night and came back Sunday evening. I was a little worried about how my city boy husband would handle sleeping in a tent and roughin' it for 24 hours, but he had a blast and I know it was good for him to get away from Thankfully, I wasn't a single mom all weekend because Douglas and Kayla came up to Birmingham for a wedding and stayed with us. Friday night, Julie and Lee cooked taco soup for everyone and we just hung out at the house. Saturday morning, Kayla and Douglas were both up at the crack of dawn ready to play with William. Kayla is such a natural with babies and isn't afraid to change a dirty diaper, feed him, dress him, or even let him spit-up all over her. Douglas is a great buddy for William, and they enjoyed watching football together. Saturday night, William and I had a dinner date with Aunt Ragan. We went out for sushi and William did pretty good at the restaurant. He was WIPED out and napped for 7 hours total on Sunday and then slept through the night like a champ.
Kayla made a quick run to Whole Foods Friday night and came back to the house with these pumpkins! SO sweet of her. Our house needed some fall love, and I of course had to take pics of our lil' punkin with his pumpkins!
Thanks Aunt Birdie for helping me sit with my pumpkins!
Saturday morning William and I went to his FIRST birthday party. The party was for 2 sisters. One sister turned ONE and the one below turned FIVE. A special friend that I work with invited us to their party. The picture below may be one of the funniest ones yet. The little girl below is 5 years old and weighs 29 lbs. The little boy below is 5 months old and weighs over 20 lbs. Love it. That's all folks!
