15 Months Old

William is 15 months old and growing, growing, growing! He is a full fledge toddler and keeping us on our toes at ALL times. He is quite the little monkey climbing on everything! Thankfully Grant taught him to "turn around and slide" off of furniture instead of trying to jump face first off everything. I'm thinking William's understanding of that short little phrase has saved us at least 5 trips to the ER ;)

We've seen the first of some toddler tantrums and they are frustrating and hilarious at the same time. He will drop to the floor in a matter of seconds if you take something away from him, especially "his" swiffer sweeper that he's scratching our walls with (AH!!)

We took these pictures in less than 5 minutes before we ran out the door for church on Sunday. I had to include the above picture because it captures a small bit of his toddler moodiness :) He's still our sweet, loving, curious, happy boy MOST of the time, but he has his moments. He loves playing outside, swimming, "reading," singing, dancing, and climbing.
The biggest change over the past month is seeing William's expressive vocabulary expand. He's still not saying a ton of words that we understand but here are a few that he says consistently:
Mama
Dada
Uh-Oh
Boo
Daw (dog)
Baba (sippy cup)
Bye Bye
Chee toa (Cheese toast)
Coo-iee (cookie)

I think that's about it ;) However, he's understanding a LOT more of what we say. For instance, he understands/responds appropriately to the following phrases:
Drink your milk
Get your shoes
Let's change your diaper (runs to changing table)
Give me kisses/hugs (by far my favorite new trick of the month)
Let's read a book (will pick out a book)
Want to go outside? (runs to door)
Brush your teeth (looks for toothbrush)
Time for a bath

He's basically eating the same things he was last month. He'll try almost anything but will quickly let you know if he doesn't like it. He drinks a LOT of milk. We're trying to get him to drink more water but he makes a face when we trick him with water instead of the usual milk in his sippy. He still doesn't drink juice either.

He's still going to bed at 7 and waking up between 6 - 7. At school he takes one nap and it's usually a long one from 12-2:30!!! At home, he usually takes a 1 hr. morning nap and a 1 hr. afternoon nap. I think pretty soon he'll drop the morning one and take one long afternoon one.

On Aug. 19th he's moving up to the TODDLER classroom at school, and he'll be sleeping on a NAP MAT and get to go outside for RECESS! That makes him seem like such a big boy! I know he'll love playing on the playground. For documentation purposes, he had his first "time out" at school on Monday. I walked in and both teachers looked at me and proclaimed, "William had a bad day." My immediate reaction was, "Oh no, those teeth must be bothering him" and they quickly responded, "No he had to go to time out (crib for 5 minutes) for not listening." (WAH WAH WAH) Apparently he slammed the cubby doors over and over and threw his food. Those are big "no no's" in his classroom that he understands. Needless to say, Grant and I need a discipline plan. (EEEK)

He can identify the following body parts: nose, eyes, teeth, hair, ears (sometimes), and his favorite BELLY BUTTON. If you happen to bump into William around town, he'll pull up his shirt to show you his belly button AND he'll try to find your belly button as well...Beware.

He's been cutting more molars over the past month and drooling a TON. However, I can still only see 10 teeth total but I know some have got to be on the brink of cutting through.

William has the funniest little facial expressions. When he's upset/annoyed with us his scrunches up his nose and huffs and puffs. It's hilarious! He's getting a lot more hair! Pretty soon we'll have to start brushing it :) Happy 15 months to my favorite little boy! Your Daddy and I love you more than you will ever know!!
