16 Months Old

William is 16 months old today! The pictures in this post are random phone pics from the past month. There's not a ton new to report since I did the 15 month post. His new "thing" is showing affection through hugging and kissing when someone leaves. We had several house guests this weekend (Douglas, my cousin Lee, and her boyfriend) and William just hugged and kissed them when they left town. He lays his head on your shoulder and sometimes rubs your back when he gives hugs (so sweet!!).

He moved up to the TODDLER 1 class at school. I didn't expect for it to be such a hard adjustment for me, nor did I think twice about it until we got to school last Monday (his first day in T1). The morning started by William not letting me carry him, instead he insisted on holding my hand and walking. Well, when we went through the front entry he happily started walking towards his old classroom. He was NOT happy when I started dragging him down a different hall into his new classroom. The first day he slept 2.5 hrs. on his nap mat, which absolutely shocked us! He's done really well with the transition. There's much more structure in this new classroom. For instance, he has computer time, reading circle time, recess, carpet play, language arts (not sure what that means), etc...

We've finally almost (most days) moved him to one nap at home. I think it's going to work out better for all of us too. It's much easier to plan play dates and other outings because I know to block 12pm - 2:30pm for nap time. William seems in a better mood after taking one long nap rather than 2 cat naps.

(He loves wearing his water shoes)

He's not saying any new words since last month. I'm ready to see his vocabulary take off! However, he does understand a lot of what we tell him.

This past month we had a visit from Granny, which was a treat for all of us! William spent a lot of alone time with Granny, which meant Grant and I were able to get out of the house and enjoy each other's company. I'm so thankful that William's grandparents are able to see him frequently.

Here he is practicing writing his name...HA HA!
