William's Christening - September 9, 2012

I'm going to break up William's Christening weekend into 2 posts because there is just too much I want to jot down for my own memory, and this blog is our family's scrapbook. I realize nobody wants to see 500 pictures or hear about every little detail, but it's important to me that we remember all of these sweet moments.

Last Sunday was a very special day for our little family. William was christened at First United Methodist Church in Dothan, and Grant and I vowed before the church to raise him as a Christian. We went back and forth about whether to baptize him in Birmingham at our church or in Dothan. Ultimately, we chose FUMC Dothan because he was the 4th generation to be christened in this church, and I wanted my grandparents to be a part of this day. We left Birmingham early Saturday morning and had a relaxing day watching football, eating chili dogs, and spending time with the newly engaged couple, Douglas and Kayla. More to come on this wonderful news later!
Watching football and playing with his new toy from Juju. My mom was concerned we didn't have enough stimulating toys so she picked up a few at the baby store in Dothan :) Abigail, the dog, was very jealous of William's new toys.

Saturday night my grandparents came over for a lasagna dinner. Seeing Sam interact with William may be one of the sweetest things I've ever witnessed. William LOVES Sam and is always smiling in his presence.  These pictures are a little blurry but make me so happy.
My mom did a beautiful job decorating for the luncheon after the baptism. Maybe one day I'll be able to set a table and cook like her. I've been saying that for years. It's always, "after we have a baby I'll do this, or when we move in the new house I'll do that, or on my days off I'll prepare a great meal for dinner." The reality is it never happens, but I'm not giving up quite yet.
If I still lived with my parents I'd never leave this porch. It's so peaceful.

Sunday morning, I woke up super early to start getting ready for the day. William and Grant slept in until about 8:30 so I was able to get a lot done :) When William finally woke up, we decided to try on his little bonnet before we got to the church. We all got a major kick out of our little linebacker in his christening bonnet. We have more pictures of him in his diaper and bonnet than we do in the gown.

He found his feet a couple of days before we headed to Dothan and is quite impressed with them :) However, this latest obsession has made diaper changes quite difficult.

He was so happy this morning and full of giggles and smiles.
And we couldn't resist not putting him in my Christening bonnet, even though it's very lacy and girly!
Next up: pictures from the church and luncheon that followed.
